Alpha Male…

Don’t worry, this isn’t a conceited attempt to up-sell my manliness as a countertenor (though I won’t deny the point either) – no, I’m just being Greek! Having launched this season in London with Opera Settecento as Adriano in Pergolesi’s “Adriano in Siria”, I’m on the road again to continue my “A”-streak as Argone in Handel’s “Sosarme”, which premieres (on my birthday!) at the Händel Festival in Halle. Speaking of alpha males, Argone certainly does his best to fit the bill, taking his own father to war to try and reclaim his birthright to the throne. And that’s saying nothing of the costume that Halle has planned for me, which you’ll just have to come see for yourself. Following hard on the heels of the Handel Festival, I’ll be finishing off my alpha run tempestuously, singing the part of Ariel (among other things) in a production of “Prospero’s Tempest” by Purcell at the Montréal Baroque Festival, which will unite several fabulous Montreal groups, including the Bande Montreal Baroque, Pallade Musica, Flute Alors and Passiflore, all under the direction of Lina Tur Bonet – a storm not to be missed!

By the way, anyone out there looking for a Bertarido for next season? 😉
